All Levels, although intermediate may be required for some courses
Each semester, you'll enroll in 4 elective courses. Elective courses meet for 45 contact hours/3 credits each. You may earn 12 credits (180 contact hours) per semester; if you choose the Early Start option, you may earn 15-17 credits (225-240 contact hours in the spring semester and 260 in the fall semester). Academic year students may earn 28 credits (420 contact hours); if you choose the Early Start option, you may earn 33 credits (up to 500 contact hours).
If you would like to take at least one elective in Spanish, you are required to take a Spanish early start language course and place at the intermediate language level or above. The early start option is optional if you are wanting to take all elective courses in English, although it is recommended for all students since it is designed to help you adjust to the university setting and to your daily life in Granada.
Classes meet on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday; during the intensive language portion of the program, classes meet Monday-Friday. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled on Fridays.
Prior to departure, you will select your preferred courses. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability and Spanish language level. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. To ensure that you receive credit for the language level you place into, have your home school pre-approve courses at several levels before you leave for Spain. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.
The host institution has offered the following courses in the past. Please note that course listings will not be finalized until the start of the term.
