HOW DID YOU ENGAGE WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHILE ABROAD?
I have made it a mission in every new place that I visit, even for a day, that I must shop at their local grocery stores. While the tourist spots are beautiful and often tell much about that place's culture and history, everybody no matter where they live has to grocery shop. The local culture and ideals shine in those mundane places and you get a peek into the local's everyday lives.
WHAT'S ONE STORY OR IMPORTANT ASPECT YOU ALWAYS TELL PEOPLE ABOUT YOUR TIME ABROAD?
As I had two months to explore the relatively small city of Prague, I did quite a bit of directionless wondering. I always found beautiful spots, but there was a standout. I decided to take a tram and exit at its last stop, while walking away from the station I stumbled upon a park. That park had a beautiful artificial cave with a fairytale-like fountain. Such sights are very rarely stumbled on in the States, so this left a huge impression on me when I first came to Prague.
